King Mumbere, Museveni Meet After Seven Years: Government Commits Itself on Supporting Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu

After a long wait of seven years, the Omusinga (King) of Rwenzururu, Charles Wesley Mumbere, finally had a meeting with President Yoweri Museveni. The meeting, which took place at State House Entebbe , Uganda, showcased a series of significant promises made by the President towards the development of the region and the betterment of the Rwenzururu Kingdom.
The meeting was attended by Hon. Minister Kabbyanga Godfrey Baluku Kiime, State Minister for National Guidance, Uganda’s Deputy Attorney General Jackson Kafuuzi, OBR Deputy Attorney General David Bwambale Kongolo and the King’s Private Personal assistant David Bradford Nguru among others.
Among the key highlights of the meeting was President Museveni’s commitment to build the OBR Palace in the fiscal year 2024/2025. This pledge aims to provide the kingdom with a brand new, state-of-the-art palace that will serve as a symbol of its cultural heritage and identity.
In addition to the palace, the President also promised to support the kingdom’s hospitality industry by offering financial aid for the purchase of Spring International Hotel project. The funding will be distributed in two parts, with the first payment expected this year and the remaining balance allocated in the next fiscal year.Recognizing the importance of agriculture in the region, President Museveni pledged to provide three tractors to the Omusinga of Rwenzururu, thereby supporting local farmers and boosting agricultural productivity.
Furthermore, the President promised to provide a fleet of vehicles to the Omusinga, ensuring ease of movement and accessibility for the kingdom’s leadership. This gesture is expected to enhance the Omusinga’s ability to engage with his subjects and oversee the progress of various development projects in the region more efficiently.
The long-awaited meeting between the Omusinga of Rwenzururu and President Museveni marks a significant milestone towards the reconciliation and development of the region. These promises made by the President demonstrate a clear commitment to fostering the cultural heritage of the Rwenzururu Kingdom and improving the lives of its people.
As the projects unfold in the coming years, the people of Rwenzururu eagerly anticipate the realization of these commitments, which they hope will contribute to their socio-economic development, empowerment, and the overall progress of the region.
