Mysterious Death Of 12-Year-Old Boy Sparks Investigation In Apac District
In Apac District, police have initiated a thorough investigation into the puzzling demise of 12-year-old Emmanuel Achila, whose lifeless body was discovered hanging from a tree. The young boy, a pupil at Ibuje Primary School and resident of Kakakwa Parish in Kotido District, vanished from home three days prior to the grim discovery.
Emmanuel Achila had reportedly been brought to the area by his uncle, Samuel Olila, who worked as a herdsman for James Odongo. The investigation took a dark turn when a bull went missing on November 21st, 2023, leading Odongo to accuse Olila of selling it without his knowledge. Subsequently, a theft case was reported at Apac Central Police Station, leading to the arrest of Samuel Olila.
The situation escalated when Odongo, the complainant, returned home and directed his inquiries towards the deceased, urging him to disclose the whereabouts of the missing bull. According to the North Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson, SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, the boy, however, fled to the neighborhood on Monday and did not return. Tragically, his lifeless body was discovered hanging from a rope on Wednesday.
Police detectives visited the scene, and the body of the deceased was transported to Apac Hospital, pending a postmortem examination as authorities await the involvement of the deceased’s relatives. Preliminary findings indicate that James Odongo, the employer of the boy’s uncle, is the prime suspect in the case.
SP Okema issued a statement urging Odongo to cooperate with the police, stating, “Odongo is our prime suspect, but he is still at large. We implore him to report himself to the police for further investigation and management of this case.”
As the investigation unfolds, the community is left in shock and mourning over the mysterious circumstances surrounding the untimely death of Emmanuel Achila. Authorities are working diligently to piece together the events leading to this tragic incident and bring those responsible to justice.
