Kampala, Uganda – In a bid to promote women’s football and strengthen its administration, the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has announced an initiative to provide female football administrators the opportunity to study Football Administration and Management courses (FAMACO). The program, which encompasses FAMACO I and FAMACO II, aims to equip women with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in football administration.

Hon. Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, the 3rd Vice President of FUFA, highlighted the importance of empowering women in football during an interview with Cente Media Group. She emphasized the need to level the playing field and give women equal opportunities to contribute to the development of Ugandan women’s football.

The announcement coincides with the upcoming Women in Football Bonanza, scheduled for Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Sheraton Hotel. The event aims to showcase the achievements of Ugandan women’s football and provide a platform for dialogue and collaboration in advancing the sport.

Hon. Kiyingi expressed her excitement about the event, adding that it will serve as an opportunity to highlight the progress made in women’s football in Uganda. The presence of Maskerem Tadesse Goshime, the Head of Women’s Football at the Confederation of African Football (CAF), as a special guest speaker, underscores the significance of the bonanza. Goshime will discuss strategies for increasing participation and support for women’s football, providing valuable insights and expertise to the attendees.

The Women in Football Bonanza, scheduled to commence at 3pm, is organized under the theme “Football: A Vehicle for National Development and Unity.” By focusing on the broader societal impact of the sport, the event aims to raise awareness about the transformative power of football and its ability to unify communities and drive national progress.

FUFA’s commitment to empowering women in football administration is a significant step toward fostering gender equality within the sport. By offering the FAMACO courses to female administrators from all eight regions of Uganda, FUFA aims to provide them with the necessary tools to excel in their roles and contribute to the growth and prosperity of women’s football in the country.

Through such initiatives, FUFA hopes to encourage more women to get involved in various aspects of football administration, from grassroots to national levels. By promoting inclusivity and empowering women in football, Uganda can pave the way for a more diverse and vibrant football landscape, contributing to overall national development and unity.
