The weekend saw a “historic wedding occasion” in Nakifuma in Mukono District after Hajj Habib Nsikonnene, a local businessman, married seven wives at once, including two sisters from the same family.

On September 10th, Hajj Nsikonnene shocked the neighborhood by exchanging vows with his seven wives before hosting a huge reception at his house that was attended by hundreds of people.

The event took place at the community of Kijjo-Namasengere in the Nakifuma Sub County of central Uganda’s Mukono District.

Two of the ladies are sisters, according to locals who communicated with this website, while two others share the first name Aisha. Rashidah, Aisha, Fatuma, Shanifah, Mariam, Zainah, and yet another Aisha were all given as the first names of the seven wives.

The historic event began at around 8 a.m., when the women were driven to nearby salons for hair style before being put in waiting Super Custom vans with personalized license plates showing each bride’s name.

After the religious ceremony, Hajj Nsikonnene and his wife organized a large parade through the towns of Kalagi, Kasana, and Nakifuma, which ended at their residence at 6 o’clock.

Nsikonnene commended his wives for their loyalty to him during his speech at the reception (the oldest has been with him for seven years).

With his seven wives, Hajj Habib Nsinkonnene attended the wedding reception.

Habibu claims that before holding a group ceremony at his home, he was first introduced to the parents of each of his wives.

Despite the fact that Islam recognizes polygamy but places a cap of four wives per husband, Habib bucked convention by claiming that his relationships with his wives had lasted at least four years and were the unwavering foundation of his commitment.

He was proud to say, “My wives don’t compete with one another.”

But he did admit that he would be bringing in additional wives in the future. He explained, “I introduced them separately and decided to wed them all at once to establish one huge happy family. I am still a young man, and in the near future, God willing, I cannot say this is the end of it.

Hajj Abdul Ssemakula, Nsikonnene’s father, claimed that polygamy has been practiced in the family for a very long time.

“My grandfather had six wives who were separated by curtains in a single house,” Hajj Ssemakula remarked. “My own late father had five wives, and I myself have four wives who live in one house,” he continued.

Some of the locals claimed that the wedding will go down in history while others claimed that it had completely eliminated their feelings of jealousy.

“For us, this is history. In my 57 years, I have never witnessed anything like this, one of the villagers exclaimed.

“I can’t be jealous any longer; I also want to be married in the same way,” a female resident stated.
