On Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the Fairway Hotel, Pan African Pyramid (PAP), a global umbrella organization for Pan Africanists, held the 6th edition of its awards, also known as the PAP Global Awards. Hundreds of Pan Africanists attended the event to honor their ancestors.
Numerous prominent pan-Africanists, including Zimbabwe’s Seventh Day Adventist Church Bishop Joshua Marara III Maponga and his wife, the Cuban Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Mrs. Tania Perez, the UN Peacekeeping Ambassador to East Africa, HE. Paul Flynn, a member of the Martin Luther King Jr. family, and representatives from numerous pro-African NGOs, cultural leaders, and politicians attended the event, which saw hundreds of participants proudly dressed in charming African attire.
This year, PAP honored 11 Pan Africanists, among them academic commentator Prof. Lawrence Muganga, Vice Chancellor of Uganda’s prestigious Victoria University, who won the Africa’s Revolutionary Educationist Award for his outstanding contributions to revolutionizing Uganda’s higher education and his unwavering support of an educational framework that is appropriate for African children.
In a brief speech after receiving the award, Muganga thanked the PAP family for recognizing him among the many educators working in Africa and vowed to continue advocating for what he calls “Authentic Learning,” an educational framework that puts the needs of the individual student first.
