This incident comes just four days after militants carried out a devastating attack on a Ugandan military base that was part of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).

Both the AU and Uganda are still assessing the number of casualties as a result of the May 26, 2023 incident, which Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni denounced.

The militants are said to be still present near the base in the town of Bulo Marer, which is 110 kilometres south of Mogadishu.

Following the attack on the Uganda people’ s Defence Force (UPDF) barracks last week Friday, the president of Uganda dispatched a team of UPDF soldiers headed by Lt, General Muhanga to Somalia.

The UPDF Land Forces Commander, Lt General Muhanga and the Somali National Army (SNA) Chief Of Defense Forces Gen. Odowaa Yusuf Rageh devised to impose curfew on the highway from Afgoye to Barawe in the lower Shabelle region.

They noted that, this is to counter the nighttime movement of the terror group.

The decision was made on May 29, at Golweyn Forward Operation Base (FOB) whereby the two met the commanders and troops serving under ATMIS.

The terror group has so far released several videos latest showing a UPDF soldier being slaughtered merciless on the neck like a goat.

After they over run the African Union (AU) military barracks during the attack last week Friday, the terror group decided to slaughter the soldiers they captured alive.

The group of four armed militia men while saying the UPDF soldiers went to their country to loot and disturb the peace.

Last week, the terror group released a statement claiming to have killed about 139 UPDF soldiers during the attack on the barracks last Friday.
