Businessman Shot Dead In Jinja, Millions Of Money Taken
Police in the Kiira region are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Shaban Malore, a Jinja-based businessman, on Saturday night.
Malore is said to have been shot and killed by two assailants on a numberless motorcycle. At around 9 p.m., he had just arrived at his home in Buweera village, Buwenge sub-county, when two men in black jackets and helmets descended on him, instantly killing him.
His body was brought to the Jinja regional referral hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination. According to a family member, the attackers followed Malore home and called him by his name before shooting him.
“When Shaban arrived, we were sitting on the veranda. Two individuals on a motorcycle, however, called his name and then shot him in the chest before driving away,” he claims.
Another relative claims that after their father, Suleiman Malore, died in 2006, Malore and his siblings were involved in a 17-year property dispute. The property in question includes commercial buildings, residential buildings, automobiles, and a 900-acre plot of land in Kituuba village, Kisozi sub-county, Kamuli district.
After the family members failed to agree on the property sharing suggestions given by both the Administrator General and their “Baise muluta,” clan heads, their cases were referred to the Jinja high court for additional remedy.
Malore and his 39 siblings were scheduled to hold their final property sharing harmonization meeting on Sunday, May 15, 2022, but were fatally slain on Saturday night.
Meanwhile, James Mubi, the Kiira regional police spokesperson, adds that a team of investigators has been rushed to the crime scene and that the search for the perpetrators has already begun.
