On Monday, October 23, 2023, the Cabinet Meeting was held at State House Entebbe, where several crucial decisions were made. The Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, has this morning addressed the press about the highlights of the Cabinet meeting.
One of the issues that were discussed was the upcoming celebration of International World Aids Day, which falls on December 1, 2023. The Ministry of Presidency presented a cabinet paper on the proper way to commemorate the day. It was agreed that the day should be used as a platform to encourage the public to continue fighting the spread of HIV/AIDS and promote awareness about prevention and treatment.
The cabinet also discussed the security situation in Kasese District, with specific attention on the Queen Elizabeth National Park attack. The Minister of ICT reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting the people and their property from such attacks. He disclosed that the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) were on the trail of ADF remnants and were determined to flush them out of the jungles in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where they operate.
The Minister expressed his dissatisfaction with the manner in which some MPs turn the National Parliament into a theater of sorts, an entertainment zone with drama and hopeless antics. It is a sad and unacceptable situation for an institution that was designed to be an august house but instead is a comedy store that brings disrepute to the mandate bestowed upon them by the electorate.
In conclusion, the Cabinet meeting that was held at the State House Entebbe made significant decisions for the betterment of the country. The government’s commitment to protecting its citizens was reinforced, and the need for proper and respectful conduct by MPs was reiterated.
