Sudhir Ruparelia To Deliver Keynote At UK–Africa Business Summit In London
Ugandan businessman and philanthropist Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia will headline the 15th UK–Africa Business Summit in London, where he is expected to deliver a keynote address on September 12 at the Royal Horseguards Hotel and One Whitehall Place.
His participation reflects both his stature in the private sector and his role as one of the leading African voices advocating for stronger business ties with the global market.
The summit, organised by The Promota Africa, has over the years established itself as a significant meeting point for policymakers, investors, and entrepreneurs from across Africa and the United Kingdom. It provides a platform to debate trade and investment while showcasing opportunities aimed at driving sustainable growth.
Dr. Ruparelia’s second consecutive appearance as a keynote speaker highlights the increasing recognition of his influence not only as a businessman but also as a thought leader in Africa’s development journey.

Through his Ruparelia Group, which has investments in real estate, hospitality, education, agriculture, insurance, banking, and media, he has played a central role in shaping Uganda’s private sector.
He is also known for his philanthropy and continued advocacy for reforms that would allow African businesses to access affordable financing and fully harness the potential of the diaspora. At the London summit, he is expected to speak on issues such as financing scalable enterprises, unlocking opportunities in agribusiness, and building sustainable urban infrastructure.
The event will bring together an impressive delegation of Ugandan leaders. Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa, Finance Minister Matia Kasaija, Treasury Secretary Dr. Ramathan Ggoobi, and Energy Minister Ruth Nankabirwa will all participate in sessions on trade, infrastructure, and energy. They will be joined by senior officials, including Gen. David Muhoozi, Lt. Gen. Joseph Musanyufu, and Ministers Evelyn Anite, Francis Mwebesa, and Musa Ecweru, who are expected to provide perspectives on security, investment, and regional integration.
The summit has grown into a trusted annual platform, now celebrating its 15th edition, with a focus on building tangible business partnerships. This year’s programme will showcase investment opportunities in energy, ICT, agriculture, and financial services, with structured sessions designed to connect credible projects with investors.
According to the organisers, the emphasis will be on execution and practical results rather than policy discussions alone. “We are committed to matching ideas with capital and building lasting partnerships that can deliver real economic transformation,” The Promota Africa noted in a statement.
Institutional support for the gathering is extensive, with backing from the Uganda High Commission in the UK, the UK Department for Business and Trade, and UK Export Finance, alongside governments of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Private sector sponsors include the Ruparelia Group, EW Properties, and the World Book of Records London.
For Dr. Ruparelia, the London summit is another opportunity to place Uganda at the centre of global trade discussions and to champion the role of the private sector in driving sustainable development. The conference is set to begin at 9 a.m. on September 12, with registration available through the official UK–Africa Business Summit website.
