Kotido, Uganda — July 18, 2025

In an emphatic display of delegate support, Hon. Ismail Muhammad Lomwar has won the NRM flag bearer position for Kotido Municipality, defeating his sole challenger Bildad Moses Adome in a landslide. Lomwar secured 8,519 votes, representing 58.9% of the total cast, while Adome polled 5,939 votes or 41.7%.

The final results were officially declared by Mr. Namuya Johnpaul, the NRM District Election Registrar, amid cheering crowds and celebrations that are yet to light up Kotido town.

“This is a victory of shared conviction—a partnership between leadership and the people,” Lomwar told supporters. “Together, we’ve opened a new chapter built on unity, results, and purpose.”

From early mobilization to the final tally, Lomwar’s campaign proved formidable. His emphasis on education, infrastructure development, and youth empowerment struck a chord across party lines. Colorful scenes unfolded across the region as voters are yet to celebrate the outcome with music, dance, and chants echoing through the evening air.

Political observers described the result as a reaffirmation of Lomwar’s strong ties with the electorate and deep roots within the party structures. With 58.9% of the votes, he heads into the general elections with solid momentum and renewed support.

Adome’s team declined to offer a statement, citing unavailable communication lines at the time of the announcement.

As the dust settles on the primaries, Lomwar now shifts his focus to the national contest—armed with a fresh mandate and a community that has spoken boldly and clearly.
