President of Uganda General (RTD) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has awarded Mr. Abdul Katabaazi with the Nalubaale Medal. Katabaazi, during the attempted hit-and-run murder by shooting of Daniel Bossa Lwomwa, the Ndiga Clan Leader, chased the assailants while sounding an alarm which attracted other members of the public. They subsequently lynched and killed one of the attackers, leaving the other severely wounded.
President Museveni commended Abdul for his bravery, attributing his actions to heroism and baptizing him as a bush war fighter, akin to himself.
The President further pledged to award and support other boda boda men who participated in capturing the assailants. This incident is among high-profile assassination attempts where Boda Boda riders responded to attacks by armed individuals. In June 2021, when assailants attacked General Katumba Wamala, Minister for Works and Transport, a Boda Boda rider rushed him to the hospital. On such occasions, the president has met the riders to recognize their heroic gestures.
