The police have stated they are not responsible for the rearrest of Paul Akamba, the Legislator from Busiki South County. Akamba is currently under investigation for alleged corruption. After his initial arrest, he was brought before the anti-corruption court where he successfully obtained bail.
However, Akamba was rearrested within the court premises shortly after being granted bail. The police have claimed they do not know Akamba’s current whereabouts but are actively attempting to locate him.
Reports indicate that Akamba was forcibly taken by armed men dressed in plain clothes and forced into a waiting vehicle, heading towards an undisclosed destination. His family members were reportedly distraught over the incident.
Meanwhile, the police have not yet issued summons to other Members of Parliament implicated in corruption allegations, dismissing claims circulating on social media about a supposed list of summoned legislators as unfounded.
