MP Lutamaguzi Ssemakula Denies Receiving Bribe to Withdraw Support for Censure Motion

Nakaseke North Member of Parliament, Lutamaguzi Ssemakula, has vehemently denied allegations that he received a bribe of Shs25 million to withdraw his support for the censure motion against Parliamentary Commissioners.

Speaking at a press conference, Lutamaguzi revealed that his initial hesitation to sign the petition was due to his mistrust of the leader of the exercise, Theodore Ssekikubo, who had previously betrayed Ugandans by supporting the removal of the presidential age limit in 2017.

Lutamaguzi stated, “I wasn’t going to sign, but I never trusted the people taking this petition. However, after making several consultations and hearing rumors that those who hadn’t signed had received Shs25 million, I am here to confirm that I haven’t received any such money.”

He further emphasized his distrust of Ssekikubo, saying, “I never trusted you, Theodore. You remember in the 10th Parliament, we were fighting against the removal of the age limit, and at the end of the day, you supported President Museveni. That’s why I never trusted you.”

Lutamaguzi’s denial comes amidst allegations that some MPs had received bribes to withdraw their support for the censure motion, which aims to hold Parliamentary Commissioners accountable for their actions.

The development has sparked controversy and raised questions about the integrity of some MPs and the parliamentary process.
