News indicates the appointment of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Abbas Byakagaba as the Inspector General of Police, replacing Martins Okoth Ochola whose tenure has ended.
Abbas will be assisted by Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) James Ochaya, who replaces UPDF Major General Geoffrey Katsigazi.
Abbas was the Director of Counter Terrorism in the Uganda Police Force.
