“I am not leaving NUP, neither will I resign as commissioner,” says former Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga.

Mpuuga, the former Leader of Opposition, appears to have the National Unity Platform at heart, as the current pressure of abuse of office from members of NUP has not separated him from the party. The Masaka Municipality Member of Parliament has stood firm, stating that he cannot quit the party since he is one of its founding members, and he has been integral in the party’s operations.
Mpuuga, however, emphasized the need to respect party leaders, stating that anyone who dares to cross paths with the structure will be dealt with. He also showed vigor in fulfilling his responsibilities within the party and dismissed any attempts to resign from the parliamentary commissioner job.
Regarding recent allegations leveled against him, Mpuuga clarified that he has not met with President Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, in the recent past. He emphasized that his interactions with the party leader have been limited to public appearances, such as funerals, press conferences, and media interviews. Mpuuga urged fellow party members to focus on the party’s agenda and refrain from internal conflicts.
