Government Earmarks Distribution of Wet Processing Equipment at No Cost to Enhance Quality of Coffee Production
The wet processing equipment will be provided at no cost by the government through Uganda Coffee Development Authority, aiming to produce one metric ton of output per hour.

The Ministry of Agriculture has earmarked the distribution of wet processing equipment in Kampala to 75 coffee farmers, processors, and groups across the country. The equipment is vital for enhancing farmers’ produce, ensuring the production of high-quality coffee, further increasing farmers’ income, and reducing losses from prolonged drying periods.
The wet processing equipment will be provided at no cost by the government through Uganda Coffee Development Authority, aiming to produce one metric ton of output per hour.
The Minister for Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries, Frank Tumwebaze, states that it is crucial for coffee farmers to formulate district-based associations to enhance the coffee industry and attract robust support from the government.
The Executive Director of Uganda Coffee Development Authority, Emmanuel Iyamulemye, says that the machines will ensure the quality of coffee is enhanced if farmers pick recommended coffee cherries that match the requirements of the machines.The Bishop of Ankole Sheldon Mwesigwa Diocese welcomes the support and partnership from the government for coffee farmers.
