Govt Probe Umeme Over Unapproved Yaka Allowances

Government through the Power Administrative Position, the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) has begun exploring power wholesaler Umeme restricted on charges that a portion of its customers on prepaid distributing power framework, Yaka got less units than anticipated in March and April this year.
According to ERA, the examination follows protests from a few power purchasers who supposedly got less energy units contrasted with what is normal dependent on the endorsed tax structure.
“We have gotten objections from power buyers about sudden derivations from paid ahead of time Yaka distributed sums in March and April 2021 by Umeme restricted. We direct Umeme to stop unapproved Yaka derivations,” the letter, a duplicate of which has been seen by this distribution, peruses.

Nonetheless, in a prior talk with this distribution, Umeme representative, Mr Peter Kaujju said they had, in blunder, given more Yaka units to their prepaid clients in December 2020, than they paid for.
