In a devastating incident on Friday morning, three young lives were cut short when a wall collapsed on them in Nakigalala Village, Kajjansi Town Council, Wakiso District.

The victims, identified as Sekatawa Daniel (3 years old), Senabulya Grace (1 year 9 months), and Nanono Hel Mary (2 months), faced the unfortunate accident that unfolded during heavy rain at their residence.

According to Patrick Onyango, the spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, the incident occurred as 30-year-old Nankyanzi Gorreti slept in the house with her four children and father. The relentless rain triggered the collapse of the wall, claiming the lives of three children, while one was successfully rescued.

Preliminary investigations point to the poor construction of the house as a contributing factor to the tragedy. Onyango explained, “The house was built using unburnt bricks, and the person responsible for the construction was unqualified.”

The bodies of the deceased children were promptly transported to the Mulago City Mortuary, where they await postmortem examinations at the time of reporting. This heartbreaking incident underscores the importance of adhering to construction standards to prevent such tragic outcomes.
