FUFA Mourns The Passing Of 2nd Vice President Darius Mugoye
By Gad Masereka
Darius Mugoye, the second Vice President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), has passed away, leaving the football community and stakeholders in deep sorrow. Mugoye’s death was announced in a statement on FUFA’s official account on November 7, 2023. He had been hospitalized for an undisclosed illness for less than two weeks before his passing.
Mugoye’s last public appearance was in August 2023 when he attended the closing ceremony of the 2022/23 FUFA juniors league national finals at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, Buikwe district. He had served under FUFA President Moses Magogo since 2013 and had been reelected for a new term by FUFA delegates earlier in the year.
The news of Mugoye’s passing was met with deep sadness, with Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, who is married to Moses Magogo, expressing her condolences. Mugoye was remembered as a reliable, dependable, committed, and trustworthy friend who had made significant contributions to the sports and education sectors.
As of the time of reporting, FUFA had not yet announced the details of Mugoye’s burial arrangements.
