Kasese: Following the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) militants’ raid on Lhubiriha Secondary School in Kasese district, in which at least 41 people—mostly students—were slain, bereaved relatives gathered to say their final goodbyes.

The horrific attack took place on June 17 at a school in Nyabugando Ward, Mpondwe Lhubiriha Town Council, in Kasese district, fewer than two kilometres from the border with the DR Congo. Victims were cut, shot, and set on fire.

37 of the victims were students at the privately-owned school.

The government through the Ministry of Education and Sports gave sh5m to the families of each of the people that were killed in the attack.

Upon meeting parents and other relatives of the victims, John Chrysostom Muyingo, the State Minister for Higher Education, on Saturday said the money was intended to support the bereaved families conduct burials of their loved ones.
