By Gad Masereka
The Office of the National Chairman (ONC) extended much-needed Ramadan relief to students at Excel Vocational Training Centre in Bombo Kalule on Friday, March 13, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to support Muslim learners during the holy month.
The outreach was led by George William Kalema, ONC Assistant Director for Mobilization, representing Senior Presidential Advisor Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, who has spearheaded the initiative to combine humanitarian support with community engagement.
The relief package included essential food items such as beans, rice, sugar, milk, dates, spaghetti, and cooking oil, aimed at supporting students during Iftar and Sahoor.
Kalema used the occasion to remind the students of the importance of discipline and focus, stressing that education and skill development are vital for securing a meaningful future. “Time is a very valuable resource. Focus on your studies and skills because education is what will make you relevant and useful to society,” he advised.
The delivery was warmly received by Deputy Director Aisha Mwanje and Abubakar Swiddiiq Mumeya, Chairman of the Excel Muslim Students Association, who expressed gratitude for the timely support. “We are thankful for the food packages that will help us break the fast during Ramadan,” Mumeya said. The school administration commended Hajjat Namyalo and the ONC for their ongoing commitment to student welfare and community support.
This outreach forms part of a broader Ramadan relief campaign by the Office of the National Chairman across the Kampala Metropolitan area, reflecting a continued emphasis on compassion, solidarity, and community development.
The initiative underscores the ONC’s role in bridging institutional support with the needs of learners and vulnerable communities, ensuring that humanitarian principles complement educational advancement.
