Luweero Schools Commend Government Support During ONC Monitoring Visit
A monitoring exercise by the Office of the National Chairman has covered ten government aided primary schools across Luweero District, with officials reporting improved attendance by headteachers and steady progress in the delivery of education services.
The exercise was conducted on Thursday by Waswa Abdulkarim Tamale as part of ongoing supervision aimed at strengthening accountability and leadership within government schools.
The visits formed part of the Office of the National Chairman’s broader effort to track how public education programmes are being implemented at the grassroots level and to engage school leaders on emerging challenges.
Schools visited during the monitoring exercise included Wakataayi Primary School, St Stephen’s Kyetume Primary School, Bukimu Islamic Center Primary School, St Andrew’s Kabulanaka Primary School, Mpigi Church of Uganda Primary School, St Kizito Primary School Natyole, Vvumba Church of Uganda Primary School, Namumira Church of Uganda Primary School Busiika, Busiika UMEA Primary School and Zirobwe Church of Uganda Primary School.
During interactions with school administrators and teachers, officials observed a notable improvement in the presence of headteachers at their duty stations.
Education stakeholders said the increased attendance has strengthened supervision of classroom activities, improved coordination among staff and enhanced accountability in the management of schools.
School leaders also used the opportunity to commend the government led by Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for sustained investment in the education sector. They cited the timely payment of teachers’ salaries and the regular release of capitation grants under Universal Primary Education as key factors supporting the smooth running of government aided schools.
According to Tamale, the monitoring visits are intended not only to evaluate service delivery but also to maintain close engagement between education authorities, school administrators and the communities they serve. He noted that regular field supervision helps identify challenges early and allows relevant authorities to respond in time.
The exercise further reaffirmed the commitment of the Office of the National Chairman to strengthening school management systems and ensuring that government programmes translate into tangible improvements in learning conditions.
Education officials say sustained monitoring and collaboration between communities and government will remain critical in advancing education standards across Luweero District and the country at large.
