Kampala — A joint police operation in Kampala has led to the arrest of a suspected robber and the recovery of Shs21 million believed to have been stolen from a city businessman.

Police said the suspect was arrested following investigations into a robbery complaint lodged earlier this week.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, detectives traced the suspect after gathering intelligence from the public and reviewing leads related to the incident.

“The suspect was arrested during an operation conducted by our officers, and a search led to the recovery of Shs21 million, which we believe forms part of the stolen money,” Owoyesigyire said.

Police added that the recovered cash has been secured as exhibit to support ongoing investigations.

Investigators are now working to identify and apprehend other individuals believed to have taken part in the robbery.

Authorities have urged the public to cooperate with security agencies by sharing information that could help in tracking down criminals operating within the city.

The suspect remains in police custody and will face charges related to robbery and criminal conspiracy once investigations are finalized.
