Uganda Airlines Resumes Long-Haul Flights after Securing Wet Lease From Ethiopia Airlines

The national carrier has announced the resumption of long haul flights to London and Mumbai starting this weekend.

In a statement shared on it’s social handles, Uganda Airlines announced the reinstatement it’s long-haul operations to London, United Kingdom and Mumbai, India; effective March 7, 2026.

According to an inside source, Uganda Airlines has arranged a short-term solution to resume its suspended long-distance flights with the arrival of a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, registered ET-ASI, from Ethiopian Airlines.

The aircraft, scheduled to arrive on Thursday under an ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) agreement, will be operated by a 43-member Ethiopian Airlines crew, expected to arrive in Uganda today.

In late September last year, Uganda Airlines momentarily halted the national carriers long haul flights between Entebbe and various airport destinations with it’s A330-800neo Aircraft.

The national carrier noted that it was stopping operations using the largest Aircraft in it’s fleet due to operational challenges.

Without giving a timeline, the Airline noted that it was making every effort to restore the long haul flights at the time.
