Police Arrest Suspect Over Attempted Robbery in Najeera
Police in the Kampala Metropolitan area have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with an attempted robbery in Najeera, a suburb of Kampala.
The suspect has been identified as Hussein Wagaba, a resident of Kayunga in Wakiso District.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, Wagaba was arrested on Friday, March 6, 2026, following an attempted robbery incident in the area.
Owoyesigyire said the suspect allegedly targeted a victim in Najeera but his plan was foiled after security officers responded swiftly to the scene following an alert from members of the public.
“Police officers responded promptly after receiving information about an attempted robbery in Najeera, leading to the arrest of the suspect before he could escape,” Owoyesigyire said.
The suspect was subsequently taken into custody and is currently being held at a nearby police station as detectives continue with investigations into the incident.
Police say preliminary investigations are underway to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the attempted robbery and whether the suspect could be linked to other criminal activities within the Kampala Metropolitan area.
Owoyesigyire urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with security agencies by reporting suspicious persons and activities within their communities.
He emphasized that police remain committed to ensuring the safety of residents and maintaining law and order across the metropolitan area.
Once investigations are concluded, the suspect is expected to be arraigned in court to face appropriate charges.
