Three Killed, Several Injured in Bus–Noah Crash on Mbarara–Bushenyi Road
Three people have died on the spot and several others sustained injuries following a fatal road accident involving a passenger bus and a Toyota Noah along the Mbarara–Bushenyi Road in Rwentuuha Town Council, Bushenyi District.
The accident occurred when a Tausi bus travelling from Kampala to Bushenyi District collided with the Noah vehicle under circumstances that are still being investigated by police.
According to preliminary reports from the scene, the impact of the crash was severe, leaving the Noah vehicle badly damaged while the bus also sustained significant damage to its front section.
Three occupants in the Noah vehicle reportedly died instantly due to the force of the collision.
Eyewitnesses said the accident happened suddenly, causing panic among road users and nearby residents who rushed to the scene to offer assistance.
Some of the injured passengers were pulled from the wreckage by Good Samaritans before emergency responders arrived.
Police and rescue teams later transported the injured victims to nearby health facilities for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to a nearby mortuary pending identification and postmortem examinations.
Traffic along the busy Mbarara–Bushenyi Road was temporarily disrupted as security officers managed the scene and arranged for the removal of the wreckage to allow normal traffic flow to resume.
Authorities say investigations have been launched to establish the exact cause of the crash, with reckless driving and dangerous overtaking among the possible factors being considered.
Road safety officials have repeatedly warned motorists to exercise caution on highways, particularly along the Mbarara–Bushenyi route, which serves as a key transport corridor in western Uganda and has previously recorded several fatal accidents.
Police are expected to release more details about the identities of the deceased and the condition of the injured victims once their next of kin have been notified.
