Valentine’s Day Turns Deadly: Father Arrested Over Alleged Killing of Daughter’s Teenage Boyfriend

Police in Wakiso District have arrested a 41-year-old man who allegedly beat his teenage daughter’s boyfriend to death in a violent confrontation on Valentine’s Day.

The suspect, Herbert Musasizi, was tracked down and arrested in Gulu District after reportedly going into hiding following the incident.

He is accused of fatally assaulting 18-year-old Martin Bukenya.

Fatal ConfrontationThe incident occurred on February 14, 2026, at about 8pm in Mabanda Cell, Gombe Division, Nansana Municipality, within Wakiso District.

According to police investigations, Bukenya a student at Hillside Secondary School Matugga had reportedly gone to visit the suspect’s 14-year-old daughter.

It is alleged that Musasizi found the teenager inside his residence, leading to a confrontation that escalated into a physical assault.

Residents say the deceased had previously been warned against visiting the home.

On the evening in question, he is believed to have brought a Valentine’s gift.

The teenager sustained serious injuries during the altercation and later died. His body was taken for postmortem examination to support ongoing investigations.

Arrest After ManhuntFollowing the incident, the suspect allegedly fled the area, prompting a manhunt by the Uganda Police Force.

Security operatives later arrested him in Gulu District and transferred him back to Wakiso, where he remains in custody.

Police say he is expected to be charged with murder once investigations are complete and the case file is forwarded to prosecutors.

Community Reaction

The killing has sparked concern among residents of Nansana Municipality, with community leaders calling for calm and urging families to resolve disputes through lawful channels.Authorities continue to record witness statements as investigations progress.

If convicted, the suspect faces severe penalties under Ugandan law, including life imprisonment.

Police say inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
