The Manager of the Office of the National Chairman, Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has launched this year’s Ramadan food distribution drive in Mukono District with a message that blended spiritual reflection and practical guidance, urging Muslims to embrace discipline, unity, and economic self reliance during the holy month.

The outreach unfolded quietly but purposefully, beginning at Masjid Ulama in Kiwanga, Goma Division, before proceeding to Masjid Noor in Seeta. At each stop, worshippers gathered in the mosque courtyards after prayers to receive food packages intended to ease the burden of fasting families.

The exercise culminated at Masjid Atiiq in Mukono Town, where hundreds assembled in an atmosphere marked by gratitude and solemnity.

Addressing congregants at Masjid Ulama, Namyalo struck a reflective tone, commending the Muslim community for what she described as steadfast support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni over the years. She linked that loyalty to the broader stability the country has experienced, noting that national progress thrives when citizens remain united behind shared goals.

Her remarks soon turned inward to matters affecting families and community welfare. Speaking candidly, she cautioned Muslim men against entering multiple marriages without the financial capacity to provide responsibly. While acknowledging that Islamic teaching permits polygamy, she emphasized that it is not an obligation and should never become a source of hardship.

“If you examine yourself and realize you do not have the capacity, please do not make Allah’s people suffer,” she said. “Concentrate on the one family you can support and serve well. Leadership begins at home.”

The call for responsibility extended to economic participation. Namyalo urged Muslims to take full advantage of government poverty alleviation initiatives, particularly those structured to comply with Islamic principles.

She referenced the establishment of Salam Bank in 2024 as a significant step toward addressing concerns about interest based financing, noting that access to Sharia compliant financial services has opened new avenues for Muslim entrepreneurs.

She encouraged mosque communities to organize Savings and Credit Cooperative Organisations as a practical pathway to collective wealth creation. Rather than lamenting poverty year after year, she said, communities should mobilize their own resources and seek additional support through structured channels.

“What we need to transform our lives is financial empowerment,” she told worshippers in Mukono Town. “Form a SACCO, strengthen it, and let your leaders advocate for more funding. Opportunity is available, but it requires organization and unity.”

Beyond material support, Namyalo framed the Ramadan initiative as a gesture of solidarity. She said the Office of the National Chairman remains committed to standing with vulnerable households during periods of spiritual devotion and sacrifice.

“As you devote yourselves to prayer and reflection, know that you are not alone,” she said. “This initiative is about sharing the little we have so that every family can observe Ramadan with dignity.”

The relief packages distributed across the district included wheat flour, rice, sugar, and cooking oil, with priority given to elderly persons, low income families, and mosque communities. For many recipients, the support represented more than food supplies. It was a reminder of collective responsibility during a season defined by charity and compassion.

As the exercise concluded in Mukono Town, Namyalo urged Muslims to use the sacred period to pray for peace, stability, and continued national development.

The Ramadan outreach is expected to continue across the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area in the coming days, carrying with it a message that blends faith, unity, and the pursuit of shared prosperity.
