Kyengera, Uganda – In a major security operation, Nsangi Police have arrested 32 individuals suspected of engaging in theft, robbery, and other criminal activities in Kyengera Central, Nabaziza, Masanda, and Kinaawa.

According to the Uganda Police Force, the operation aimed to respond to a surge in criminal activity, particularly at night, when residents had been targeted in repeated attacks.

Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, said that the arrested individuals are being investigated.

“We are screening all suspects. Those with no charges will be released, while others will be taken to court to face allegations of theft and other offenses,” Owoyesigyire said.

Police reports indicate that the suspects were involved in multiple criminal acts, including robbing residents along roads, breaking into homes, and forcibly taking valuables such as money, phones, and other personal property.

Local residents hailed the police crackdown, saying it has brought a sense of safety back to their communities.

“We have been living in fear, especially in the evenings. It is reassuring to see the police take firm action against criminals,” said a Kyengera resident who declined to be named.

Authorities have called on the public to continue reporting suspicious activities and to work closely with law enforcement to help maintain peace and security in their neighborhoods.
