Police in Kira Municipality have arrested 95 suspects during a series of intelligence-led anti-crime operations targeting criminal gangs, drug abuse, and violent offences within the rapidly growing urban area.

According to security officials, the operations focused on crime-prone neighbourhoods and suspected hideouts in areas including Najjera, Bulindo, Kito, and surrounding communities.

The coordinated raids were conducted by joint security teams working with local leaders and crime intelligence units to disrupt organised criminal activity.

Authorities say many of the suspects are believed to be linked to offences such as phone snatching, house break-ins, robbery, and the sale and use of narcotic substances.

During the operations, security personnel reportedly recovered suspected drugs and other items believed to have been used in criminal activities.

All suspects were taken to various police stations within Kira Division for screening and further investigations.

Police emphasised that individuals found innocent will be released, while those with cases to answer will be charged in court.

Security agencies noted that the operations form part of ongoing efforts to improve public safety and restore order in fast-growing urban centres within the Kampala Metropolitan area.

Residents have been encouraged to remain vigilant and share information with law enforcement to help combat crime in their communities.

Police say similar operations will continue as authorities intensify efforts to dismantle criminal networks and ensure the safety of residents and businesses across Wakiso District.
