Museveni Invited to Ethiopia as Oryem, Ambassador Etsegenet Review Regional Security Cooperation

Kampala, Uganda — President Yoweri Museveni has received an official invitation to visit Ethiopia as Uganda and Ethiopia deepen diplomatic engagement through high-level discussions on regional peace, security, and bilateral cooperation.

The development follows a meeting between Uganda’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of International Cooperation, Hon. Okello Oryem, and Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Etsegenet Yimenu Bezabih, where the two leaders reviewed the state of relations between Kampala and Addis Ababa.

According to diplomatic sources, the discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in regional security, promoting economic and trade ties, and enhancing joint efforts toward stability in the Horn of Africa and the wider East African region.

The officials emphasized the importance of African-led solutions to ongoing conflicts and the need for sustained diplomatic collaboration.

During the engagement, Ethiopia extended an official invitation to President Museveni to participate in upcoming high-level events in Addis Ababa, signaling growing strategic relations between the two countries.

Uganda and Ethiopia have maintained strong diplomatic ties over the years, working together within regional and continental frameworks, including African Union peace and security initiatives.

Both countries are regarded as influential players in regional security matters, with continued cooperation seen as key to addressing cross-border challenges and promoting economic development.
