Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia Flies to UK for Key Role at Global Investment Forum
Ugandan billionaire businessman Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia has jetted into London ahead of the 15th UK–Africa Business Summit, where he will take centre stage as one of the keynote speakers.
His arrival has stirred attention within business circles, with expectations high that he will use the platform to spotlight Uganda and Africa as prime destinations for investment.
The summit, set for Friday at the Royal Horseguards Hotel and One Whitehall Place, will draw together African policymakers, entrepreneurs, and global investors. Dr. Ruparelia, who chairs the Ruparelia Group, is scheduled to deliver a keynote address that will focus on African-led investment, expanding enterprises through affordable financing, ethical agribusiness, and the development of resilient urban infrastructure.
His participation for a second consecutive year underscores his rising profile as one of the continent’s most influential private sector voices.
Organisers said this year’s gathering is designed to move beyond ideas and generate practical outcomes. “The focus this year is on execution, matching ideas with capital and building lasting partnerships that can transform economies,” noted The Promota Africa, the summit’s convener.
Uganda’s presence in London is further strengthened by a delegation of top leaders that includes Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa, Finance Minister Matia Kasaija, Treasury Secretary Dr. Ramathan Ggoobi, and Energy Minister Ruth Nankabirwa. Senior security officials Gen. David Muhoozi and Lt. Gen. Joseph Musanyufu are also among those expected to take part in discussions, reflecting the wide scope of issues on the agenda.
Sessions will showcase bankable projects in energy, ICT, agriculture, and financial services, offering investors direct access to credible opportunities. For Uganda, Dr. Ruparelia’s role is particularly significant as it not only positions the country prominently before global financiers but also highlights the growing influence of African entrepreneurs in shaping the continent’s investment narrative.
Corporate partners, including Ruparelia Group, EW Properties, and the World Book of Records London, have backed the summit, further elevating its profile. Dr. Ruparelia’s presence is expected to add weight to Uganda’s investment pitch and to reinforce his longstanding commitment to promoting private sector-driven growth across Africa.
