Mpumalanga, South Africa: ONC Manager Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo has applauded the agricultural strides made by Ugandan diaspora farmers Williams Baagala and Denis Kiwanuka, following her visit to their expansive 45-hectare BMP Namukasa Farm in Roodeplaat, Mpumalanga Province.

The farm, which integrates large-scale vegetable cultivation and poultry production, stands out as one of the most advanced Ugandan-owned agribusiness ventures in Southern Africa.

Namyalo, who is on a diaspora empowerment tour commissioned by President Yoweri Museveni, said the operation is a shining example of what patriotic Ugandans can achieve abroad.

“This is a transformative project by our own people. Kiwanuka and Baagala are not only feeding communities here, they are building an agricultural blueprint Uganda can learn from,” she said after touring the farm.

In support of their work, Namyalo delivered $10,000 in empowerment funds from President Museveni, meant to boost productivity and strengthen Uganda–South Africa diaspora collaboration in the agribusiness space.

She also pledged three key commitments, including: technical linkage with Uganda’s Ministry of Agriculture for knowledge exchange and partnership, training opportunities for Ugandan farmers back home to learn modern practices from diaspora-led farms, and present a formal report to the President on how farms like BMP Namukasa can be scaled or replicated in Uganda.

The duo’s enterprise produces cabbage, sukuma wiki, and poultry on a commercial scale, employing Ugandans and South Africans alike. “These are not just farms. They are powerful centres of knowledge and opportunity. We must bring these lessons back home,” Namyalo emphasized.

The South African tour, already spanning engagements in Gauteng, Pretoria, Western Cape, Eastern Cape, and Limpopo, has shifted national attention to the untapped potential of Ugandans excelling abroad in agribusiness.

Agricultural analysts say farms like Bagala’s present a scalable Ugandan success model in the region, proof that diaspora farming can play a strategic role in both host economies and Uganda’s rural transformation.

As Namyalo continues her tour across other provinces, the ONC initiative is fast becoming a dual-purpose platform: empowering Ugandans abroad while mobilizing strong political and economic support for President Museveni and the NRM ahead of 2026.
