In a landslide victory that speaks volumes about the people’s desire for change, Hon. Molly Kamukama has emerged as the preferred candidate for the Woman Member of Parliament seat in Kazo District. On July 17, 2025, Kamukama garnered a whopping 67% of the votes, while her opponent, Hon. Jenipher Muheesi, secured a mere 26%. The people of Kazo have made it clear that they will no longer be swayed by petty handouts and vote-buying tactics.
The shift towards development-oriented leadership marks a new era in Kazo’s politics. Kamukama’s campaign, which focused on tangible development projects such as road development, women empowerment, clean water services, and youth development, resonated deeply with the people of Kazo. Her vision for a brighter future, where development and progress take center stage, has won over the hearts and minds of the electorate.
But the journey to victory wasn’t without its challenges. Kamukama’s supporters faced intimidation and violence, including a disturbing incident on the eve of voting where Retired Major General Muheesi, with the help of Lt. Kabagambe Leonard beat up young men from Katututsi cell. Despite these challenges, the people of Kazo sent a strong message, loud and clear, rejecting vote-buying tactics and intimidation.
The results are a testament to the people’s desire for real change. Out of 346 cells, Muheesi won only 7, a stark contrast to Kamukama’s overwhelming victory. It’s clear that the people of Kazo have had enough of petty politics and are hungry for development and progress.
This outcome aligns perfectly with the principles of the National Resistance Movement, which emphasizes democracy, good governance, and the rule of law. As the saying goes, “the voice of the people is the voice of God,” and in this case, the people of Kazo have spoken. With Molly Kamukama’s victory, Kazo District takes a significant step towards a brighter future, one focused on development and progress rather than short-term gains. The future looks bright, and it’s time for Kazo to reap the benefits of good governance and development-oriented leadership.
