SOMALIA: 5 feared ineffective in Ugandan protection force helicopter crash

KAMPALA | Xinhua | The Ugandan protection force said Wednesday that one amongst its helicopters crashed in the Somali capital of Mogadishu, with five of the eight of us on board feared ineffective.

Felix Kulayigye, spokesperson for the Ugandan protection force, told Xinhua by cellular phone that three of these on board survived, whereas the quest operation continues.

“Eight of us occupy been on board. Three made it out safely nonetheless with excessive burns,” said Kulayigye. “The quest is gentle on. They are combating the fireplace.”

The protection force is investigating the trigger of the crash, which befell at Aden Adde World Airport on Wednesday morning, the spokesperson added.

Last September, the Ugandan protection force misplaced a transport helicopter whereas flying from Mogadishu to Baledogle Airfield, about 90 km northwest of the Somali capital. All four peacekeepers on board survived the accident, per the protection force.

Uganda has been one amongst the troop-contributing worldwide locations to the African Union peacekeeping mission in the Horn of Africa since 2007. ■
