
UNITED NATIONS | Xinhua | UN Secretary-In vogue Antonio Guterres on Friday welcomed the signing of a peace settlement between the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Rwanda.
“This settlement is a foremost step toward de-escalation, peace and stability within the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Colossal Lakes reputation,” acknowledged Guterres in an announcement.
“I beg the parties to honor in full the commitments they absorb undertaken within the peace settlement and pursuant to Security Council Resolution 2773 (2025), including the discontinuance of hostilities and all other agreed measures,” he acknowledged.
He added that the United Nations stays entirely dedicated to supporting the implementation of the settlement in shut coordination with the African Union as wisely as regional and worldwide companions.
Facilitated by the US, the settlement became signed in Washington, D.C., on Friday.
