Kenyan security battles protesters in Nairobi

Nairobi, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Police and hundreds of protesters were on Wednesday engaged in running battles in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi and other cities.  The protestors are marking 365 days since final year’s deadly protests against the controversial Finance Bill.

The demonstrators gathered in main city centres including Nairobi, Mombasa, Eldoret, and Kisumu. They lit Bonfires and blocked the Naivasha-Nakuru Freeway, causing essential traffic disruptions.

In Nairobi, some sections of town centre and roads resulting within the Speak Dwelling were barricaded with razor wire, whereas Parliament used to be surrounded by a heavy presence of the police and protection drive. The protesters, largely childhood, were waving Kenyan flags and placards, whereas chanting “Ruto have to breeze”.

There are stories that atleast 50 individuals were injured within the protests in Nairobi.

Earlier, the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) banned all tv and radio stations from offering dwell protection of the protests, citing constitutional and staunch violations. The directive used to be issued by CA Director Overall David Mugonyi, who also stated that failure to conform with the directive would entice regulatory action.

Essentially based totally totally on the Kenyan Editors Guild, the privately owned NTV and KTN stations were raided and their transmission centres and signals switched off.

In a dispute, the Guild condemned the action, which it says is a shocking violation of the structure and press freedom. They stated that dwell protection will not be a threat but a civil responsibility to provide sure accountability and transparency.
