Kampala, Uganda: FUFA President Hon. Moses Magogo has congratulated Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA FC) for its landmark recognition by FIFA, following the club’s winning submission under the global Club Management and Professionalisation Programme.
The achievement places URA FC among just two clubs globally, alongside ASEC Mimosas of Côte d’Ivoire, to receive FIFA’s endorsement for a strategic plan focused on club development and professionalisation.
The programme, held in 2024 at Golden Tulip Hotel in Kampala, required clubs to submit strategic plans in their areas of expertise.
URA FC’s proposal, which focused on sustainable talent development, football governance, stakeholder engagement, and post-career athlete support, stood out among dozens of entries submitted globally.
FIFA’s official communication, addressed to URA FC CEO Allan Munaaba by Picalló Aguilar Marcos, FIFA’s Senior Manager for Professional Football Development, confirmed the recognition, stating: “We are pleased to announce the two winning submissions: ASEC Mimosas (Côte d’Ivoire) and URA FC (Uganda). We will be contacting the winning clubs shortly to coordinate their invitation to our upcoming Club Management Network Session in New York.”
Reacting to the news, FUFA President Magogo took to X (formerly Twitter), stating: “Congratulations, @URAFC_Official, for the massive achievement. I am very proud of you. This is a testament to URA FC’s dedication and commitment to excellence. We are thrilled that they will represent Ugandan football on the global stage.”
URA FC will now receive tailored support from FIFA to implement their winning strategic plan, which aligns with international standards of club professionalisation. The initiative places the club on a solid path toward structural, administrative, and sporting transformation.
In his remarks, URA FC CEO Allan Munaaba expressed appreciation to all stakeholders, saying: “We are incredibly grateful to the Government of Uganda and the Commissioner General, URA FC’s Patron, for their continued support.”
“Special thanks to the FUFA President for his tireless work in advancing the professionalisation of club football. This award is dedicated to our current and former players, coaches, executives, and the taxpayers,” Munaaba added.
FUFA noted that URA FC’s success signals a major boost for Ugandan football and reaffirms the federation’s ongoing agenda to elevate clubs through improved governance, planning, and management capacity.
