The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) has taken a significant step toward enhancing its infrastructure by signing a major contract with M/S VCON Construction Uganda Limited for the supply, delivery, and installation of furniture at its Main Campus. The agreement, signed on Thursday afternoon, will see the Faculty of Engineering and Technology as well as student hostels furnished with high-quality fittings to improve learning and living conditions.

The signing ceremony took place at the IUIU Kampala Campus boardroom and was presided over by the university’s Rector, Assoc. Prof. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, and Sudhir Ruparelia, Director of VCON Construction Uganda Limited. Senior university staff members were also present to witness the milestone agreement, which falls under Financing No. UG0087.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Gyagenda emphasized the importance of the project in supporting IUIU’s commitment to providing a conducive academic environment. “This partnership marks a crucial phase in our efforts to upgrade facilities for both our students and faculty.

The new furniture will not only enhance comfort but also align with modern educational standards, particularly for our engineering programs,” he said.

Sudhir Ruparelia of VCON Construction expressed confidence in delivering the project on schedule, stating, “We are honored to collaborate with IUIU on this initiative. Our team is dedicated to supplying durable and ergonomic furniture that meets the university’s specifications, ensuring long-term value for students and staff.”

The project is expected to be completed within the coming months, with installations taking place at the Main Campus in Mbale. The move is part of IUIU’s broader strategy to expand and modernize its facilities amid growing student enrollment, particularly in science and technology programs.

With this development, IUIU reinforces its position as a leading institution in Uganda’s higher education landscape, prioritizing infrastructure that supports academic excellence and student welfare.
