Egyptian National Found Dead in Soroti; Five Arrested on Murder Charges
In a tragic turn of events, the body of Ahmed Zinhom Ibrahim Selim, a 32-year-old Egyptian national who went missing last week in Soroti, has been discovered in Awoja Swamp. The grim discovery was made by local residents on Saturday, March 2nd.
East Kyoga Regional Police Spokesman, Oscar Gregg Ageca, has confirmed the finding, stating that they are treating the case as a homicide. “Since the body of the deceased has been found, the charge against the suspects will be changed to match the nature of the offence of murder,” Ageca asserted in a statement.
According to initial police reports, at least five individuals have been apprehended in connection with Selim’s death. Among them is Muhammed Nabil Ali, who was reportedly seen with the victim on the night of his disappearance. Another individual in custody is Kisolo Mark, an employee of the deceased, who had access to Selim’s residence on the night of his disappearance.
Selim, a resident of Cell A, Campswahili Ward in Soroti City, had seemingly vanished without a trace, prompting an extensive search effort by local authorities and community members.
Ageca has assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will face prosecution in due course.
The circumstances surrounding Selim’s death remain unclear, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in the investigation.
