By-Elections in Kayunga: Bobi Wine Reports The Arrest Of His Security Guard, Gardener
Tensions remain high ahead of the Kayunga by-election, as security is beefed up at the residence of National Unity Platform (NUP) president Bobi Wine.
The by-election is being held because the Kayunga LCV seat became vacant after the death of Muhammad Ffeffeka Sserubogo, who died a month after taking office.
Bobi Wine reported increased security deployment at his residence in a tweet, a move aimed at discouraging the leader from traveling to Kayunga, where he is scheduled to campaign for NUP candidate Harriet Nakiwedde.
In the tweet, Bobi Wine mentions that his movement has been hampered because no one is allowed in or out, implying that he may not be in Kayunga today.
Bobi Wine adds that his security guard and gardener were both violently arrested before being whisked away.
“The military has increased its presence in the area around my house.” No one is permitted to leave or enter the building. Our security guard and gardener were arrested, beaten, and bundled into ‘drones’ outside our gate. “Their phones have been confiscated,” he tweeted.
The hashtag “we are removing a dictator” was added to his tweet.
Bobi Wine earlier tweeted about how security had been deployed around his area code, which prompted the security deployment to gradually tighten.
“This morning, ahead of my planned visit to Kayunga District to campaign for our flag bearer, the police and military stationed themselves overnight around my house in an apparent attempt to prevent me from leaving.” The tyrannical regime is on its way out. “It’s just a matter of time,” he tweeted.
President Museveni is expected to be in Kayunga, supporting NRM candidate Andrew Muwonge.
