Young Artists Confront UNMF President Eddy Kenzo Over Exclusion From Federation Activities
Furious young artists yesterday stormed the UNMF president, Edirisa Musuza, seeking explanations for why they were not given the chance as young artists to participate in the activities of the federation.
The artists led by Asha Blessing demonstrated on Salama Road against UMF’s silence on the Alleged 3 billion allocated to all Ugandan artists. ” We’ve heard you received the 3 billions; where is our share? When Sheebar was asked on TV, she didn’t give any answers. So why are we left behind?”, Blessing asked.
It’s unfortunate that police interupted us as we were still waiting for others to join us for this peaceful procession to the UMF president seeking accountability for our money,” added Blessing.
According to producer Monster, the young artists are not considered artists yet, but they have good songs that are being played on radio stations, television, and both in Uganda and outside Uganda.
The young artists were also pining for Eddy Kenzo and his management for holding meetings without their notice, which left them behind in knowing what exactly was taking place in their federation.
However, Kenzo trashed the social media allegations that he received billions of dollars from the government. ”We have never received any amount from the government as alleged on social media, but very soon we are going to get funds from the government and other well-wishers both in Uganda and outside Uganda, he said.
He also added that through UNMF, all artists will get to know each other, which will increase their connection and ease their work.
On Monday at his Big Talent studios in Makindye, Kenzo addressed the media and recognized that while there may be complaints from a number of federation members, none have yet left.
“Did she truly say she was leaving? Was she sincere when she stated, “I exited, I am no longer a part of UNMF?” I haven’t heard her say that. Kenzo told the media on Monday, “I have not seen a single member leave the federation. Someone might have issues here and there.
Eddy Kenzo has accused specific media outlets of fomenting conflict among artists in order to stir up controversy and profit from the headlines it generates.
The media thrives on conflict and is opposed to our coming together. You profit each time we fail to unite, but you are squandering this nation’s resources. The nation suffers each time controversy is stoked for personal gain. The media is the one making problems, not the federation.
You must be pleased that the artists are no longer unified since you frightened them into being afraid to even discuss the federation.
