Munyagwa Arrested By Anti-Corruption Unit Over Destruction Of Cassava Garden
Mubarak Munyagwa, a former member of parliament for Kawempe South Division, has been arrested on suspicion of malicious property damage and conspiracy to conduct a criminal.
The charge sheet, a copy of which was seen by this publication, alleges that between May 26 and June 3, 2023, at Mutungo cell in Wakiso District, Munyagwa, Paddy Kabuye, Joweria Nakafero, Godfrey Buwembo, Isa Sekitoleko, and others still at large willfully and illegally destroyed cassava in the garden belonging to Janan Opio, valued at Shs5 million.
Officials from the State House Anti-Corruption Unit apprehended him with the aid of the police.
He is being held in custody at the Kajjansi Police Station while he awaits his afternoon court appearance.
