In a devastating incident along the Mbarara Lyantode road, two promising students of Bishop Stuart University lost their lives in a tragic road accident. Asuman Kilabala, known as Kibazo in the football circles, representing Potts Football Club, and Ashiru Agaba from Kahonda Football Club, met their untimely demise on Sunday in a collision between two motor vehicles near Akyapa.
The duo was actively involved in the Kitunga League, initiated by the alumni of Muntuyera High School Kitunga in Ntungamo district, western Uganda. Their passion for football had brought them together, showcasing their talent and dedication on the field.
Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted the harrowing incident where a Toyota Spacio, bearing registration number UBC 554D, traveling from Mbarara towards Kampala, lost control due to overspeeding. The vehicle veered off its lane and collided with a Tata lorry approaching from the opposite direction.
Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi region police spokesperson, confirmed the tragic outcome, stating that Kilabala and Agaba, both passengers in the Spacio, succumbed to their injuries on the spot. Two other occupants of the vehicle sustained severe injuries and are currently receiving medical attention.

The loss of these vibrant young talents has left a void not only in their respective football clubs but also in the hearts of their friends, families, and the entire Bishop Stuart University community. Their contributions to the sport and their promising futures have been abruptly cut short by this tragic accident.
As investigations into the accident continue, authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution and adhere to road safety regulations to prevent such heartbreaking incidents in the future.
