Fort Portal Tourism City – In a shocking incident, a Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) helicopter has crashed in Nyamisingiri, Kichwamba sub-county, Fort Portal Tourism City. Preliminary information indicates that the helicopter is suspected to have come from Muhote barracks near the Mountain of the Moon University, located on the airbase in Fort Portal Tourism City.
According to Maj Naboth Mugisha, the UPDF Airforce spokesperson, the incident is “purely accidental,” explaining that details of the crash will be availed later.
Eyewitnesses say the helicopter hit a house rooftop before catching fire.
“This was purely an accident and details of what has happened are yet to be gotten, but in the meantime, the helicopter crashed in a place where it is said there was a house,” Mugisha said on Tuesday.
According to the latest information, the helicopter crashed onto the house of an as-yet-unidentified resident, resulting in the tragic death of three family members and the pilot. The names of the deceased individuals have not been released pending notification of their families
