Exposed Corruption At High Court Sparks Renewed Hope: DPP Orders Reinstatement Of Murder Case After
After city journalist Gad Masereka exposed the corruption surrounding the dismissal of the murder case of Kyomuhanji Prudence Kizito John and others, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) at Workers House in Kampala has today 6th-May-2024 ordered the reinstatement of the case.
In a letter written by Jennifer Amumpaire, Assistant DPP/Regional Officer – Kampala, addressed to The Resident Senior State Attorney, the DPP stated, “We are in receipt of a complaint from Shoebill Advocates, consider reinstating the case”.
Upon receiving the letter, the Resident Senior State Attorney at City Hall Kasana Hanifa called for the case file from Kira Road Division to address the complaint. In a correspondence, RSSA stated, “We have received a calling letter from the Regional Officer-Kampala calling for the above case file. Forward the case file to address the complaint.”
The letter was then forwarded to the Kira Division CID office station, where it was received by S/C Atube, who works in the registry.
Gad Masereka, the complainant, expressed gratitude to the Office of the DPP for the progress made so far. “I want to thank the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions for calling back my file. I hope this will mark the new chapter of getting justice,” Masereka said.
He also issued a warning to those who may attempt to interfere with the case again, stating that the world is watching them closely and will continue exposing them.
