But who is Janet Anyine Mugabe?
Janet’s journey into leadership began during her university years. From 2003 to 2006, she served as the Minister for Women affairs at Makerere University, a role that marked the start of her public service career. Her leadership abilities were evident early on, setting the stage for her future endeavors.
In 2010, Janet contested for the Woman MP seat for kiruhura district, showcasing her commitment to advocacy and representation, though she was not declared the winner. Undeterred, she shifted her focus to the security sector, joining the ESO and climbing the ranks with dedication and expertise.
Janet holds a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from Makerere University and a Master’s degree in Global Security and Strategies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Her academic background, combined with her practical experience, underscores her suitability for her new role.
Before her recent appointment, Janet served as the Senior Director in charge of special duties in the Office of the President. Her responsibilities included crucial aspects of national security, where she demonstrated her capability and strategic thinking.
