Entebbe, Uganda – In a bid to strengthen the partnership between the government and Buganda Kingdom, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Saturday met with clan leaders at State House-Entebbe, reiterating his commitment to promoting wealth creation among Ugandans.

The meeting, attended by Minister of State for ICT, Hon. Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo, followed up on last year’s interaction between the two parties, where the clan leaders requested land purchases and support for their cooperative society, Bataka Sacco.

President Museveni pledged to construct buildings for the clan leaders using the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Engineering Brigade, a move aimed at enhancing their economic productivity. Additionally, he donated Shs200 million to support the Bataka Sacco’s economic endeavors, demonstrating his dedication to empowering the kingdom’s economic development.

The President emphasized the importance of spreading the National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) wealth creation message, encouraging the clan leaders to champion this initiative among their communities. He urged them to mobilize their subjects to embrace government programs aimed at poverty eradication and wealth creation.

The meeting also discussed ways to enhance the kingdom’s cultural heritage and promote tourism in the region. President Museveni expressed his support for the preservation of Buganda’s cultural sites and historical landmarks, recognizing their significance in Uganda’s rich cultural diversity.

The clan leaders, representing various districts in Buganda Kingdom, expressed their gratitude to President Museveni for his continued support and partnership. They pledged to work closely with the government to ensure the success of the wealth creation initiatives and cultural preservation efforts.

This meeting solidifies the partnership between the government and Buganda Kingdom, fostering collaboration in promoting economic development, cultural preservation, and prosperity for all Ugandans.
