In a devastating incident that sent shockwaves through the Entebbe-Kampala highway, a concrete mixer truck tragically crushed a Mitsubishi Galant Fortis at a traffic intersection on Wednesday morning. The victim of this horrifying accident was identified as Raphael Okiot, a respected lawyer and teaching assistant at Uganda Christian University’s Law School.

The incident unfolded when Okiot, driving his sedan with registration number UBQ 371P, came to a stop at the Nkumba University traffic intersection. Witnesses reported that a truck, registered as UAN 836B, appeared to experience brake failure while descending downhill.

CCTV footage revealed that despite not speeding, the driver of the truck attempted to maneuver to avoid colliding with Okiot’s vehicle. In a desperate effort to avert disaster, the truck veered onto the right side of the road, ultimately hitting a roadside barrier and overturning onto the Mitsubishi, crushing it completely.

Emergency services, including police and Special Forces Command agents, rushed to the scene, but it took over an hour to extricate the crushed vehicles. Despite their efforts, Okiot succumbed to his injuries in the tragic accident.
