In a shocking turn of events, Mitooma District is rocked by the alleged murder of a businessman, prompting the arrest of four individuals by local law enforcement.

The incident transpired on February 11th, 2024, in the serene surroundings of Rukondo village, Igambiro Parish, Katenga Sub County, Mitooma District. Marcial Tumusiim, serving as the spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi police, confirmed the distressing event and revealed the identities of the four suspects: Didas Tusiime (38), Xavier Ayebazibwe (38), Peter Mucunguzi (20), and Agatha Akampa (28). All four individuals were residents of Rukondo village, Igambiro Parish, Katenga Sub County, Mitooma District.

The victim of this tragic incident was identified as Godfrey Atuhaire (38), a well-known businessman who also resided in Rukondo village.

Anselm Ainebyoona, the brother of the deceased, filed a harrowing report on February 12th, 2024, around 12:00 PM, at the Katenga police post, alleging that his brother, Godfrey Atuhaire, had been mercilessly strangled to death.

Initial investigations unveiled a disturbing narrative suggesting a sinister motive behind Atuhaire’s untimely demise. It was alleged that Didas Tusiime, one of the suspects, was romantically involved with the wife of the deceased, Agatha Akampa. Furthermore, a chilling revelation surfaced, indicating a conspiracy between Tusiime and Akampa to eliminate Atuhaire, thus clearing the path for Tusiime to marry her as a widow. The modus operandi purportedly involved staging the murder to appear as a suicide, with the suspects utilizing a bedsheet to conceal their heinous act.

However, a vigilant local resident disrupted the perpetrators’ plans when they reportedly witnessed Tusiime entering Atuhaire’s residence around 3:00 AM on the fateful night.

A detailed autopsy conducted on the deceased unveiled the gruesome reality of his demise, showcasing internal head injuries and signs of strangulation, indicative of a deliberate and calculated act of violence.

In response to this chilling revelation, Tumusiim conveyed that the deceased’s body was respectfully transported to Kitagata Hospital mortuary in Sheema District for a thorough postmortem examination. Meanwhile, diligent investigations persist as authorities strive to unravel the truth behind this reprehensible crime and ensure that justice is served.

The community of Mitooma District remains gripped by shock and disbelief as they grapple with the sinister implications of this tragic event, underscoring the fragility of peace and security in their once-peaceful enclave.
